Here´s a Comanche that experienced two gear up landings a few months ago.  The shimmy damper was found hung up on the side of the cowling but was unsure if it might have been the cause or the result of the gear up. Just prior to that flight, the cowling had been removed at a maintnence shop for a starter replace-ment.
